Recall: Risk of explosion from apple spritzer
The popular apple spritzer drink has fallen into disrepute. The food company EDEKA is recalling numerous bottles of the soft drink of its own brand "Gut & Günstig" because these may pose a risk to the consumer.
EDEKA admits that contamination could have occurred during the filling process. The fermentation process could cause gases in the plastic bottles to expand, which could cause the bottles to explode. There is an acute risk of injury! Specifically, there are 1.5 liter PET bottles that have the expiry date 6th and 7th March 2012 and start with the batch number L1 2922. The affected bottles were delivered in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Hesse and Bavaria.
Do not open apple juice spritzer. EDEKA's reason for the recall is primarily based on preventive consumer protection. As a precaution, the group has taken the goods out of trade. For the bottles that have already been sold, EDEKA strongly advises against opening the bottles. The Group's customer service department answers further questions at the email address:. Upon presentation of the receipt, the purchase price in the supermarket will be reimbursed without hesitation.
Apple spritzer is generally regarded as a popular German drink, which, not least because of its composition of minerals and carbohydrates, contributes to health regeneration, especially after sporting activities. Since, according to EDEKA, the affected bottles have already been removed from the markets, there is only a risk of injury to the consumer in the case of the batch mentioned above. All other apple spritzer products can still be drunk without hesitation. (sb)
