Snow, ice, then sunshine and spring warmth again: The weather seems to be going crazy these days - and is causing unpleasant complaints for many people. The reason for this, according to medical meteorologist Christina Koppe from the German Weather Service (DWD), is the fact that the body has not yet been changed: "The body has adjusted to the cold, and it is only now that it has to get used to the warmer weather," says the expert.
Changing the weather promotes sleep disorders and headaches For normal healthy people, the switch from winter to spring is not a problem, because a healthy organism can cope well with it. “It becomes critical for people who are afflicted and have difficulty in changing over - this can lead to tiredness and exhaustion. And if you're unreasonable and don't dress properly, it's easier to get an infection, ”says Koppe.
If the thermometer rises, the body reacts with an expansion of the vessels, which means that blood pressure has to be adjusted accordingly - for people with a rather low blood pressure, the warmer temperatures would often mean complaints such as dizziness or sleep disorders at the moment, according to the expert .
According to Christina Koppe, people with migraines or headaches could also be experiencing physical problems at the moment due to the change in weather, so sufferers should adjust to this and try to conserve their own energy reserves if possible.

According to forecasts by the German Weather Service (DWD) on Wednesday, the temperatures will peak between 8 degrees in the north and 16 degrees locally in Breisgau - on Saturday morning, on the other hand, parts of Saxony had measured almost minus 20 degrees, which means a temperature increase of almost 30 Degrees would mean. But despite a bit of warmth, spring is obviously still a long way off - because according to the DWD, lower temperatures can be expected again from Friday.
According to Christina Koppe, a few small tricks could help to protect yourself a bit from the pollen as an allergy sufferer: “It would be advisable to wash your hair every night and rinse out the pollen that got caught in it. And you should only ventilate during the day when there is little pollen. In the country, the highest burden is in the early morning, in the city it is the other way round - you should ventilate in the morning. ”
Cold increases the risk of infectious diseases But the temporary rise in temperatures not only improves the mood of many people, it also has other positive effects - because, according to Christina Koppe, there is an increased risk of infectious diseases at very cold temperatures: “It is the end of winter our immune system is simply in poor condition due to the vitamin D deficiency, in addition there is dry air in winter when it is cold outside - this is not optimal. Because of the cold, our mucous membranes are poorly supplied with blood, which means that the defense against viruses no longer works as well. ”

The reason for this is the large amount of time that is normally spent indoors, according to Wanka - with deliberately induced changes in temperature, everyone can train their bodies to adapt to new weather conditions more quickly.
