Sealing of the posterior molars is covered by health insurance
To protect against caries, health insurance companies seal the back molars of children. Health insurance companies cover the costs for 6 to 17 year olds, explains the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG). However, parents have to pay for the sealing of additional teeth themselves. During the treatment, a white plastic is filled into the furrows of the occlusal surfaces, which then seals the teeth. This significantly reduces the risk that the occlusal surface of the treated molars is affected by caries. Regular and thorough brushing of the teeth cannot be avoided. (fr)
